Payton Legal utilizes three federal laws to protect our clients: the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Telephone Consumer Protections Act.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act spells out the measures that debt collectors can and can’t use to collect debts. It prohibits them from using illegal and harassing conduct. The Act is in place to protect all consumers in collection of personal debts.

Payton Legal can help you clean up your credit report. We can look to see if there is inaccurate, false or outdated information on your report and help you fix it. If needed, we can use the power of the Fair Credit Reporting Act to sue creditors and reporting agencies.

Your credit score is an important number. It can affect getting a loan to purchase a home or car, insurance rates and even employment. A poor score can cost you lots of money. It is important to make sure that all information on your credit report is accurate.

Payton Legal can help you if you are receiving unwanted and unsolicited calls to which you didn't consent.

Our attorneys, using the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, can defend you against annoying and harassing calls, including robo and autodial calls. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act is a federal law safeguarding people against unwanted communications, including unsolicited telemarketing calls, pre-recorded calls, autodial calls and junk faxes. The law went into effect in 1991 and additional rules went into effect in 2013.
